Dr Anna Singleton is an NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow and Senior Research Fellow at The University of Sydney’s Engagement and Co-design Research Hub.
Dr Singleton’s research aims to co-design and implement low-cost, accessible, and scalable digital health interventions to improve health of cancer survivors.
Dr Singleton has been awarded more than $5.8M in research funding including a 2022 World Cancer Research Fund grant. She has 31 peer-reviewed publications including a 2022 systematic review with meta-analysis of digital health randomised controlled trials that was published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology. Dr Singleton has given 54 presentations (13 international), resulting in 8 awards including the 2021 International Psycho-Oncology World Congress Presentation Award.
Significant accomplishments in digital health and consumer involvement
During her PhD, Dr Singleton co-designed and delivered a text message program called EMPOWER-SMS with the aim to support the health and wellness of over 1000 breast cancer survivors. She was awarded the 2022 Telstra Health Top 25 Brilliant Women in Digital Health Award, 2022 Sydney Health Partners Award for Significant Research Contribution to Women’s Health and her EMPOWER-SMS trial won the 2022 Australian Clinical Trials Alliance Consumer Involvement Award.
Dr Singleton has been invited co-author three World Health Organisation Global Breast Cancer Initiative Implementation Framework sections regarding survivorship, psycho-oncology and community care and invited to co-chair of the 2023 NSW Cancer Conference representing Sydney Cancer Partners. She is also co-chair of the Primary Care Collaborative Cancer Clinical Trials group Survivorship Engine room and was selected as a 2023 Sydney Health Partners Implementation Science Fellow.
The Outstanding Early Career Researcher Award honours an individual who has demonstrated exceptional research progress and accomplishment, and leadership in the field of cancer research.
