To improve quality of life for cancer patients, and those affected by cancer, through health care, support and engagement.

People with cancer need to be supported to keep healthy during and after a cancer diagnosis.

A cancer diagnosis is extremely difficult for people and their families. The NSW Cancer Plan sets out strategies to improve the quality of life for people affected by cancer.

This includes supporting people before, during, and after a cancer diagnosis. As well as embedding survivorship support where appropriate.

It is important to engage with the community, ensure patient-reported measures are used to improve the cancer system, and provide care for people at the end of life.

The strategies under this goal continue to build a patient-centred quality cancer system (and a health system) that focuses on the needs of people with cancer and their carers.
