Cancer control in NSW: Annual performance report 2016
The Cancer control in NSW: Annual performance report 2016 highlights areas of positive change and opportunities for improvement across cancer control in NSW. In particular, it provides a snapshot of performance in key areas, such as cancer prevention, screening, treatment and clinical trials.
This is the third annual statewide report published by the Cancer Institute NSW, as part of its Reporting for Better Cancer Outcomes (RBCO) program.
Since 2010, the RBCO program has been improving cancer outcomes through robust local and statewide monitoring and reporting on cancer health system performance, and through ongoing engagement and collaboration across the health sector.
What’s new in this year’s report?
For the first time, the Institute has partnered with the Bureau of Health Information to report on the experiences of people with cancer in NSW as part of the RBCO program.
New data are also being reported for skin protection, alcohol consumption and cancer screening, as well as more detailed information around cancer treatment and service delivery.
“By providing a more comprehensive picture of cancer control across NSW, we are influencing real change in cancer outcomes for the people of NSW and the health system”
- Professor David Currow FAHMS
Chief Cancer Officer, NSW and CEO, Cancer Institute NSW
