Leukaemia is a type of blood cancer. It starts when white blood cells developing in the bone marrow become abnormal.
There are different types of leukaemia. These are:
- acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL)
- acute myeloid leukaemia, (AML)
- acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APL)
- chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL)
- chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML).
Incidence and mortality data for leukaemia in NSW is currently available up until 2015.
