The Cancer Institute NSW and Women’s Health NSW hosted the Women's Health NSW Multicultural Cancer Virtual Summit on 19 November 2020.
The event provided a great opportunity to learn and share insights to improve cancer outcomes for women in NSW. Themes included bowel, breast and cervical cancer screening, tobacco cessation, and equity-based care for women with cancer. The Summit focused on the needs of women in multicultural communities and strategies to best support accessible and women-centred cancer care.
Nearly 70 staff connected virtually from all corners of the state including Wagga Wagga, Cooma, Lismore, Campbelltown, Penrith, Leichhardt, and Bansktown. Attendees included allied health professionals, nurses, health promotion officers, centre coordinators and reps from Local Health District Women's Health Network.
The virtual summit offered participants the opportunity to network with peers, devise strategies to accelerate cancer control in NSW, learn from one another and stir up a bit of new inspiration for their work.
