2018 Patient Experience Symposium

The 2018 Patient Experience Symposium (PExS 2018) was held at the Hilton Hotel Sydney on Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th April 2018.

PExS 2018 showcased expert evidence, local and international examples, and consumer stories. It was also an opportunity for consumers and health staff to share local innovations which have improved patient experience and outcomes.

PExS 2018 is a joint collaboration between the Agency for Clinical Innovation, Clinical Excellence Commission, Health Education and Training Institute, Bureau of Health Information, Cancer Institute NSW, eHealth NSW, the Ministry of Health’s Mental Health Branch and Health and Social Policy Branch.

Applications were open to submit an abstract on the following topics:

  1. Celebrating Culture & Diversity
    Celebrating diversity initiatives in key areas including: multicultural, LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex), Generations, Disability and Gender. 
    The importance of culture for positive outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities.

  2. The Art of Patient Experience
    Creative approaches to patient, family, carer and staff experience.
    This may include art, music, design, working with animals and more. 

  3. True Partnerships
    Co-design between consumers, families, carers and staff with shared ownership and control are key to the best innovations and improvements.

  4. Staff Experience & Wellness
    Recognising the impact on patient, family and carer experience and outcomes by focusing on staff experience and wellbeing.

  5. Measuring What Matters
    Measuring and understanding what matters to patients and their families and carers.

  6. Improving Patient Experience through Technology
    Digital health initiatives to improve patient care and experience
