Alive and Out There

Alive and Out There is a multicultural theatre project with important messages about cancer prevention and early detection.

Focusing on Arab, Greek and Macedonian communities, Alive and Out There aims to address the myths and misconceptions about cancer in these communities.

The overarching messages the three plays deliver cut across common ideas of cancer awareness, yet each story takes a unique approach.

The plays opened at Hurstville Civic Centre in May 2013, with excerpts from the Arabic and Macedonian shows featured in English.

The launch was specifically organised to provide health professionals an opportunity to view the plays, gain insight into how cancer is viewed in culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.
