Equity and inclusion

Listening to everyone with cancer: Embedding equity in cancer PROMs

Improving equity in cancer care is a priority of the NSW Cancer Plan. In recognition of the diverse needs of people affected by cancer in NSW, equity is central to the design and ongoing implementation of the PRMs program.

Tailored PROMs and information can support more equitable care and support across key groups.

PROMs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with cancer

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with cancer can complete an additional PROMs measure called What Matters 2 Adults (WM2A).

The WM2A measure:

  • Was co-developed with more than 2,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from around Australia
  • Reflects culturally important aspects of wellbeing, including balance and control, hope and resilience, culture and country, pride and strength, and connection with others
  • Supports more culturally safe care
