For men with low-risk localised prostate cancer, most long-term psychological and quality-of-life outcomes were similar between men undergoing active surveillance and/or watchful waiting compared with various active treatment groups.

People with metastatic renal cell carcinoma who are elderly, female, have treatment in a non-teaching facility or have no private insurance have a reduced likelihood of receiving a cytoreductive nephrectomy even though it is strongly associated with improved survival.

All-cause survival following hepatitis B virus-hepatocellular carcinoma (HBV-HCC) has improved considerably, suggesting an impact of more effective antiviral therapy and earlier HCC diagnosis; in contrast, all-cause survival for hepatitis C virus-HCC is unchanged.

By using a novel population attributable fraction method, the authors estimate that there will be 74 000 avoidable body fatness-related cancers, and 40 000 avoidable tobacco and alcohol-related cancers in Australia over the next 10 years (2017-2026).
