Winner of the 2024 Consumer Engagement in Cancer Research Award

We are proud to recognise Lucy Jones for her dedication to advancing neuroblastoma research

Winner of the 2024 Consumer Engagement in Cancer Research Award

Ms Jones is the Founder and CEO of Neuroblastoma Australia and a consumer advocate passionate about advancing neuroblastoma research.

She has worked tirelessly to raise awareness of this aggressive cancer and has funded research aimed at creating more targeted, effective and less toxic treatments.

Ms Jones’ personal connection to the cause – having lost her daughter Sienna to neuroblastoma – has motivated her to raise over $3.5 million for neuroblastoma research initiatives and help bring promising medicine known as DFMO to Australian children with high-risk neuroblastoma.

Ms Jones serves on the consumer and community committee for Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and is actively involved in the redevelopment of the Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre. Earlier this year, she was appointed to the board of the Australian and New Zealand Children’s Oncology Group.

Ms Jones’ passion and advocacy work are an inspiration to everyone working in cancer control.
