We are proud to recognise Professor Nicolas Hart for transforming outcomes for people with cancer, particularly metastatic cancer.

Winner of the 2024 Outstanding Mid-Career Researcher Award

Professor Hart is a National Health and Medical Research Council Investigator Research Fellow in Cancer Survivorship at the University of Technology Sydney. 

Professor Hart’s most prominent national and international work includes:

  • Leading the development of the world’s first global survivorship care standards and practice recommendations for people affected by advanced or metastatic cancer, which is available in 14 languages
  • Co-producing a global package of interventions for cancer rehabilitation with the World Health Organisation
  • Co-leading a global report on cancer patient navigation that informed the recent Australian Cancer Plan.

As a mid-career researcher, he has secured over $17.5 million in research funding, published more than 160 peer-reviewed research articles, authored three book chapters and presented more than 120 papers at conferences.

The Outstanding Mid-Career Researcher Award honours an individual (5 to 10 years post PhD completion) who has demonstrated exceptional research progress and accomplishment.
