What we found at the Forum: Networking
The Forum was attended by a wide variety of professionals across the cancer system providing a distinct opportunity for networking between researchers, health professionals and consumers within the cancer space. This included attendance by LHD Multicultural Health Staff (29%), LHD Cancer Service Staff (26%), Cancer Institute Staff (26%) and Consumer Representatives (14%).
Networking opportunities were built into the Forum's program. This included several catered breaks as well as two table discussion workshops in which attendees were allocated specific table seating to encourage and facilitate discussions. Each table had a consumer advocate, staff from multicultural health and cancer service, Cancer Institute staff, facilitator and scribe to record ideas.
Over 80% of attendees rated Networking as ‘excellent’ or ‘very good’. It was noted that the face-to-face format with adequate time to engage with attendees worked well to facilitate engagement between professionals and networking.
The Forum provided an opportunity for participants to identify their service needs, contribute ideas, and provide feedback.
“It was a great day, valuable and insightful. [I] came away thinking even just the smallest of projects and ideas is a great starting point to make change.”
