NSW Cancer Registry: Future focus area

Through the evaluation of the New Technologies Value Story, the following opportunities for enhancement were identified to optimise the overall outcomes of the Registry over time.

• Explore opportunities to further increase the electronic receipt of pathology reports, noting, however, that 100% completeness is not attainable as some laboratories have limitations in sending reports electronically.
• Further increase the number of public and private medical oncology services that submit cancer data electronically.
• Opportunities exist to expand data engineering pipelines to rapidly produce datasets for analysis and linkage.
• Potential further increase in timeliness of data receipt, noting though that 100% is never attainable.
